About VHS
The Vancouver Hospice Society (VHS) was incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization in December 2003. The Society is governed by a 10 member Board of Directors, managed by an Executive Director and supported by over 700 members and volunteers.
Our Hospice Home
In response to the critical need for additional hospice and palliative care beds in the Vancouver area, the Vancouver Hospice Society has embarked on a $4.5 million Capital Campaign to create a new freestanding Hospice Home in our community. “Our new Home will reflect our unwavering commitment to ensure those facing end-of-life issues have the medical, emotional and spiritual support they need to face this challenging time,” says Sue Hurd, founding member of the Society.

VOLUNTEER SUPPORT
Not reflected in the above figures is the substantial support Vancouver Hospice Society receives each year from our wonderful volunteers.
During 2010 our volunteers contributed over 30,000 hours. Volunteers perform a range of functions, including operating both of VHS’s critical Thrift Store operations (HOB & HOB Too), delivering VHS Society programs to clients, planning and executing VHS fundraising events, serving on a variety of planning committees and carrying – out administrative tasks in the office.
