Our Hospice Home

In response to the critical need for additional hospice and palliative care beds in the Vancouver area, the Vancouver Hospice Society has embarked on a $4.5 million Capital Campaign to create a new freestanding Hospice Home in our community. “Our new Home will reflect our unwavering commitment to ensure those facing end-of-life issues have the medical, emotional and spiritual support they need to face this challenging time,” says Sue Hurd, founding member of the Society.

Internationally renowned palliative care physician, Dr. David Kuhl spoke in support of this project in a recent interview when he noted, “Not only is this Home needed in the Vancouver area but more Hospice Homes are required if we are to meet the growing demand in the coming years for quality end-of-life care.”

Approximately half of the $4.5 million needed to construct, equip and operate our Home has been raised to date. You can help us realize our dream by making a donation today. Together we will continue to live out the philosophy of Dame Cicely Saunders, Founder of the modern Hospice movement who said, “You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die.”
