“The world is hugged by the faithful arms of volunteers.”

Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of the Vancouver Hospice Society.

We are proud to have an amazing team of over 200 volunteers who work with us to support patients and families at the hospice, and in the community. Volunteers are carefully selected, and those who work directly with patients and families undergo a comprehensive 30-hour hospice training course.

These kind and compassionate individuals sit with dying patients at the bedside, visit palliative individuals in their homes, provide Healing Touch sessions, and offer bereavement support.

Volunteers also run our hospice thrift shops, manage the reception desk, help with administrative tasks, and work in fundraising and special events. Our beautiful gardens are cared for by a crew of dedicated garden volunteers, and our hospice facility is in top shape thanks to the ongoing attention of our maintenance volunteers!
